HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED TO SHOW IMPROVEMENT?

HOW MUCH WILL I PEEL?
The amount you will peel will depend on your skins condition and which strength of the VI Peel is used. Each individual will respond differently and you may have only light, fluffy flaking or medium to heavier peeling. Peeling usually begins on day three and can continue until day five to seven. If you have been using products such as Retin A or have sensitive skin, you may experience heavier peeling.

On day three the peeling usually begins and generally starts around the mouth and chin area . Most of the peeling should be finished by day six or day seven. If you have had the VI Peel with Precision or Precision Plus boosters then a secondary peel may occur around day seven.
CAN I STILL DO MY NORMAL ACTIVITIES AFTER THE VI PEEL?
There are no restrictions. We recommend avoiding heavy sweating for the first few days after the peel. Normal activities can be resumed immediately after the peel.
HOW MANY PEEL SHOULD I HAVE AND HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE THEM?
The number of peels needed will depending on the individuals skin condition and the degree of sun damage and pigmentation. For some one peel may be enough to improve the skin while others may need a series of peels. For best results it is generally recommended to have the Vi Peel two to four times a year. This helps repair damaged skin (caused by sundamage, lifestyle and acne) and is also a great preventative maintenance treatment to slow the skins ageing process. We recommended to consult with your practitioner for an individual assessment to determine the number of peels you will need. If you have significant sun damage, pigmentation or suffer acne then your practitioner may recommend one session every month.

Sun exposure should be limited as much as possible – especially during the peeling process. After your peel you must apply the provided VI Derm SPF 50+ daily for sun protection. On days three and four, when the skin is peeling, the sun should be strictly avoided to prevent uneven exposure and possible worsening of pigmentation. Once your skin is fully healed you can enjoy moderate sun exposure providing you continue regular skin care maintenance and daily sun protection. If you suffer from hyperpigmentation it is best to avoid sun exposure as much as possible, as the sun can reverse the positive effects of the VI Peel and bring back treated hyperpigmenation.
CAN TEENAGE ACNE SUFFERERS HAVE THE VI PEEL?
The VI Peel is not only for adults but also teenagers with adolescent acne. Patients as young as 12 years old can be treated with the Vi Peel for acne. Provided the recommended skin care regime is followed, most types of acne can be effectively treated. More severe acne may also require medications which can be prescribed by our doctor.
CAN THE VI PEEL HELP WITH PRECANCEROUS CELLS?
Yes, the VI Peel, similar to the other peels assists in removing the precancerous cells. It is advised that those who have a history of skin cancer consult their general physician before having the VI Peel. The peels are not designed to cure cancer but act as a preventive measure.
I LOVE THE RESULTS OF THE VI PEEL! WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE SURE MY SKIN STAYS BEAUTIFUL?
To keep your skin looking beautiful you need to maintain the health of your skin at home. Just as you care for proper dental health between dental checkups, similarly you will have to also care for your skin between peels. The VI Derm skincare system helps to maintain the results of the Vi Peel and continues to improve your skin quality over time. You will begin to lose the effect of the peel if it is not followed by adequate skincare and sun protection.
CAN I HAVE A VI PEEL IF I GET COLD SORES?
Yes. In most cases, our practitioners will suggest pre-medication to be used before the peel to reduce the risk of a cold sore break out.
*Results and longevity of treatments vary on an individual basis and can be dependant on a person’s age, genetics, skin type, skin condition, environmental factors and lifestyle habits. Just like ageing is a natural process that occurs over time, preventing, achieving and maintaining results is also a gradual process that may involve more than one treatment.
