It is the first machine able to treat around and within the upper and lower eye area, helping with sagging upper lids and fine lines close to the lash line. Tixel offers three levels of treatment depending on your concerns and range from an open-channel treatment which creates tiny micro-channels that stimulate new collagen to a medium to full ablative treatment. The ablative treatment results can be similar to that of a Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing treatment.

Tixel is a groundbreaking treatment that uses thermo-mechanical action to rejuvenate the skin fractionally. Frequently Asked Questions

During your initial consultation your clinician will assess your suitability for the Tixel treatment. If appropriate, you may be able to have a treatment on the same day as your consult. In some cases, you may need to wait two to four weeks to prepare your skin, as active skincare prep is highly recommended leading up to the treatment.

Once it is agreed to go ahead with the treatment you will be required to give us your health history, informed consent and have before and after images taken, all of which are kept confidential. The type of pixel treatment you require, how many sessions, the after-effects and aftercare, costs and process are discussed comprehensively beforehand.

At the commencement, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and prepared by your clinician. The Tixelmachine has a handheld headpiece with a diamond titanium metal plate, it passes radiant energy directly onto the skin for a millisecond, delivering short bursts of heat within each section of the grid until the whole treatment area has been covered. Multiple passes may be performed to target specific areas. Your skin is gently cleaned on completion and soothing post-treatment serums are applied.

Most people find the Tixel treatment tolerable and likened to warming heat sensations, like a light sunburn throughout the treatment. As everyone experiences anxiety around different levels of discomfort, we discuss pain management strategies with you during your consultation. However, if you are having ablative treatment a Fraxel strength treatment numbing cream will be prescribed by our Doctor and applied 45 minutes beforehand. Numbing cream is not necessary for Open Channel treatments, however, a cold air blowing device, called Cryothermy is used throughout for added comfort.

Treatment times vary depending on your specific needs and whether you are having a small area, like upper eyelids, or a larger area such as a full face and neck. Small areas can take as little as 15 minutes to complete, while larger surface areas can take up to an hour.

How many treatments you require will depend on several factors, such as the severity of your skin condition, your age, your general health and healing response and if you smoke or sunbake. A standard course is 3-4 treatments. We may recommend 4-6 treatments for those with higher needs for optimal results. All treatments are spaced at 4-6 weeks apart with maintenance treatments every 6-12 months.

Over the weeks following you will notice* the texture, tone, elasticity or scarring in your skin improving. It’s important to understand that the growth of new collagen cells can take weeks. Therefore, results are best seen after 4-6 weeks after your first treatment. By 3 months after your last treatment, your skin will be at its absolute peak. Improvements are also dependant on your skincare, lifestyle and health. You’ll continue to see results for up to two years after a series of treatments. Using medical-grade skincare can prolong your results.

Yes, like any cosmetic treatment, Tixel comes with a few potential side effects, although they are generally mild and temporary. Following the treatment, you might notice that your skin feels somewhat tender and warm, resembling the sensation of a mild sunburn. This sensitivity is typically accompanied by a slight swelling and a reddish hue, which are common reactions and tend to subside within 2 to 3 days.

In the subsequent days, it’s not uncommon for the skin to develop a scab-like texture. It is crucial during this period to resist the urge to scratch or pick at the skin to prevent potential infections or scarring.

Moreover, certain individuals, particularly those with thinner skin areas such as around the eyes, might experience a prolonged period of redness and swelling. While these symptoms usually diminish in a few days, they can persist longer in some cases.

This will depend on the intensity level used for your treatment. Your skin may look and feel hot, tight, warm and slightly sensitive, as if you have been in the sun or have a mild sunburn. Some may develop mild to moderate swelling around the eye or mouth area. Most after effects can last anywhere between 3-10 days post treatment. Medium and Full Ablative treatments can leave the skin looking pink to red for 3-10 days and a light brown micro crust can form and will appear over 7-14 days. For the lower intensity Open Channel treatment, you will be able to return to normal activity the following day. Makeup can be used after 48hours to cover your skin while healing continues for all treatment settings. We suggest our safer and calming, non-bacterial Issada Mineral makeup. This will depend on the individual and their overall skin condition. The collagen created can last up to 3-5years. However, collagen production will vary between individuals. Health, age and lifestyle factors, such as smoking can affect the ability to produce good collagen stores and its longevity. We usually recommend treating the area every 12-18 months to maintain results. All these factors will be assessed and discussed during your consultation.

Tixel is ‘Good Science’ that delivers ‘Good Results’ but it is only as good as the overall health of the individual having the treatment. Unfortunately, those who have been seriously unwell, have a negative metabolic state, or a suppressed immune system will have deficient collagen stimulation and healing abilities and are not suitable candidates. Likewise, heavy smokers, sunbathers, or those with a stressful lifestyle may not respond as well or might need more treatments to get results, which can be minimal at best. Our clinical staff will discuss more suitable treatment options at your consultation.

This feature also allows for a more precise treatment in delicate areas such as around the eyes, even reaching as close as the eyelash margins without posing a risk of injury. In contrast, fractional CO2 laser treatments necessitate the use of corneal shields, which are metal protectors placed underneath the eyelids, especially when the treatment involves the bony orbital area surrounding the eye.
