Lip Filler

Restore lost volume, add soft pouty volume or redefine your lips with Lip Filler

Lip Filler

Lip Filler is a tissue tailored Dermal Filler product specifically formulated for lips. We have six different lips fillers available, from very fine to very thick and full. We offer a free consultation to work out together which is the right one for the lip look you’re after, because some girls like them subtle and some girls want them full and pouty.

How Lip Fillers Work

Lip fillers work by injecting a substance, usually “HA”, into the lips. “HA” is a natural substance found in the body that helps keep skin hydrated and voluminous. When injected into the lips, it adds volume, shape, and structure. The effects are temporary as the body eventually absorbs the “HA”, typically over several months. The process is customisable, allowing for various results based on the amount and type of filler used.

Frequently Asked Questions

When choosing a clinician and going ahead with any cosmetic treatment, you need to be informed about the risks and consider two essential aspects: the product’s safety and the expertise and skill of the person performing the treatment. It pays to do your research!
Every medical procedure has possible side effects. These will be discussed with you before treatment. Side effects from dermal fillers are related to having the product injected into the skin. As fillers are a thick gel-like substance, they can sometimes cause mild tissue trauma while injected into the skin, such as swelling, bruising, lumpiness and slight discomfort. These side effects always subside within a few days with simple post-treatment management. However, more serious side effects like infection, allergy, granuloma, and necrosis have been reported (less than 1:15000), and in extremely rare cases, visual impairments or blindness have been reported.
At The Cosmetic Studio Noosa, our staff are regularly trained in emergency responses in the management of all adverse events in accordance with the ‘Guidelines on Emergency Responses to Dermal Filler Adverse Events’. We abide by safe injecting practices and adhere to strict protocols for medical management to resolve these conditions in the rare event of them occurring. At your first consultation and every 12 months, you will have a FaceTime consultation with one of our supervising medical prescribers, who will assess your medical history, current medications, and any allergies or illnesses that may affect your suitability for treatment with dermal fillers.
Our Studio Director and Cosmetic Nurse Injector, Vicki Hull, has been Queensland’s Clinical Trainer for Galderma, the dermal filler supplier. She has trained hundreds of doctors and nurses in the use of dermal fillers both nationally and internationally. Vicki has also trained all Cosmetic Nurses at The Cosmetic Studio Noosa to an expert level and hosts regular in-clinic Adverse Events and clinical training for the whole team. We also keep up to date with the latest Emergency protocols by attending industry conferences and being members of AMET (Aesthetic medical support service).
In addition, we use only genuine brand, TGA-approved dermal fillers with an outstanding safety profile. Unfortunately, we cannot reveal the brand name of the products on our website due to legal requirements. So, with much comfort and confidence, we say you are in safe hands and expert hands too! Please go to OUR TEAM to find out more.
Depending on the area being treated and the dermal filler used, most treatments can be performed over a ½ to 1 hour appointment. Sometimes we will ask you to come in earlier for application of a topical aneasthetic cream.

Over time Dermal Filler naturally gets metabolised or broken down by the body. We recommend that you have follow up sessions before the dermal fillers are completely depleted. This helps to maintain the structure of the correction and gives longer lasting results. In the event that you decide not to have further treatments, there are no ill effects to your skin, such as over stretching the area, it will simply return to the state it was before treatment. In fact, we have seen in studies and in ourselves that even if you have the Dermal Filler treatment only once, new collagen stimulation can improve the skin’s tone and texture. This often leaves the treated area looking softer or more toned than before your treatment.

You will notice some side effects that will only last for about a few days. We will discuss these potential side effects in detail with you and advise how you can prevent them from occurring. The most likely side effects (if any) post a dermal filler treatment session includes the following:

Swelling:

When swelling is experienced with this treatment, it usually subsides within 24 to 48 hours. Our experts will advise you on how to prevent swelling once your treatment is complete.

Bruising:

Bruising is a potential risk when the skin is exposed to any procedure that involves penetration. Most of the time the bruises are very small and can be easily covered with mineral makeup. There are certain medicines that increase the bruising occurrence and you will be notified about these prior to your treatment.

Tenderness:

It is quite normal to feel a mild tenderness at the treatment site after having the dermal filler treatment. It is also easily manageable by simply taking a mild pain relief medication such as paracetamol. Other measures include applying ice to the treated area to reduce bruising or swelling, avoiding sauna, spas, strenuous exercise, and certain medicines. The post treatment care information will be explained in detail after your treatment is completed.

After your consultation, you’ll be offered a customised treatment plan. You might like to consider the options and then re-book an appointment for another visit, or you can begin the treatment on the same day (if time permits).
Once your dermal filler treatment is complete, we will give you instructions regarding your aftercare. If you have any questions or concerns we encourage you to call the clinic and speak with one of our clinicians. You can also book a review or follow up appointment two weeks after your treatment at no further cost.

We offer consultations and assessments with our registered Nurses to determine how to achieve an optimal result for you.

  • Clients are asked to avoid alcohol and blood thinning medications 7 days prior to treatment to prevent bruising
  • It is strongly advised that you don’t wear makeup or foundation prior to your treatment as makeup can harbour bacteria.
  • After thoroughly cleaning your skin a strong topical Anaesthetic cream is applied half an hour prior to the treatment to ensure client comfort
  • Hospital grade antiseptic solution is used to clean the skin prior to injection
  • During the treatment the filler is injected into the skin in small amounts using varying techniques to achieve best results
  • Ice is applied during and immediately after to help reduce potential swelling and bruising
  • Your skin is thoroughly cleansed again and arnica cream may be applied to finish
  • Most filler treatments take approximately half an hour to one hour, however time will vary depending on the area being treated. We also usually recommend for you to come in approximately half an hour before your appointment to have numbing cream applied to the areas.

Lip fillers, typically made of hyaluronic acid, dissolve over time as the body naturally breaks them down. Enzymes in the body gradually metabolize the hyaluronic acid, reducing the filler’s volume. This process varies per individual and is influenced by factors like metabolism and lifestyle. The typical duration of lip fillers is several months, after which they progressively lose volume, and the lips return to their original state.

A Lip Filler treatment will take approximately 1 hour. This includes 30 minutes of consulting time to formulate the right look for you as well as applying a topical anaesthetic to the area.
To ensure your treatment is as comfortable as possible we first apply our powerful numbing cream to your lips. All our dermal fillers also come loaded with local anaesthetic, which makes this a very comfortable treatment.
Lip Fillers can last from 8-12 months* However, longevity is client dependant.
