Dermal Fillers Restore Volume & Rejuvenate the Skin
Dermal Fillers are a smooth injectable gel placed below the skin’s surface to ‘plump up’ static facial lines and folds, creating a natural and refreshed facial expression. The dermal fillers broad range is customised to match the tissue of each treatment area.
How do Dermal Fillers work?
The Dermal Fillers used at The Cosmetic Studio Noosa are “HA” fillers made up of a complex sugar chain which is chemically identical to what is found in human skin. Injected into the skin, fillers create volume and also stimulate collagen production.

Frequently Asked Questions
ARE DERMAL FILLERS SAFE?
There are several anti-ageing products available on the market, but which is the right one for you? When you select a product, you need to consider two important aspects: the products safety and the ability of the person who is conducting the treatment.
At The Cosmetic Studio Noosa, we use only genuine brand dermal fillers with an outstanding safety profile. We cannot reveal the commercial name of the products on our website due to legal requirements. However, what we can reveal is that the dermal filler product we use is made in Sweden and is a non-animal, stabilised gel product. It has been used in Australia since the mid nineties, much longer than other brands of dermal fillers and remains the number one dermal filler worldwide for safety and efficacy.
None the less, every medical procedure has possible side effects. These are discussed with you prior to treatment. Side effects from dermal fillers are related to having the product injected into the skin. As fillers are a thick gel-like substance they can sometimes cause mild tissue trauma while being injected into the skin, such as swelling, bruising, lumpiness and slight discomfort. These side effects always subside within a few days with simple post treatment management. More serious side effects like infection, allergy, granuloma, and necrosis have been reported (less than 1:15000), and in extremely rare cases visual impairments or blindness have been reported. At The Cosmetic Studio Noosa our staff are regularly trained in emergency responses in the management of all adverse events in accordance to the ‘Guidelines on Emergency Responses to Dermal Filler Adverse Events’. We abide by safe injecting practices and adhere to strict protocols for medical management to resolve these conditions in the rare event of them occurring. At your first consultation and every 12 months you will have a FaceTime consultation by one of our supervising medical prescribers who will assess your medical history, the current medications you are taking and any kind of allergies or illnesses that may affect your suitability for treatment with dermal fillers.
In addition, our Studio Director and Cosmetic Nurse Injector, Vicki Hull has been Queensland’s Clinical Trainer for Galderma; the dermal filler supplier. She has trained hundreds of doctors and nurses in the use of dermal fillers both nationally and internationally. Vicki has also trained all of the Cosmetic Nurses at The Cosmetic Studio Noosa to expert level. So, it is with much comfort and confidence that we say you are not only in safe hands but expert hands too! Please go to OUR TEAM to find out more.
HOW LONG WILL MY TREATMENT TAKE?
Depending on the area being treated and the dermal filler used, most treatments can be performed over a ½ to 1 hour appointment. Sometimes we will ask you to come in earlier for application of a topical aneasthetic cream.
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE DERMAL FILLER AND THE RESULT ONCE THE FILLER HAS GONE?
Over time dermal filler naturally gets metabolised or broken down by the body. We recommend that you have follow up sessions before the dermal fillers are completely depleted to maintain the correction and so the results last for longer.
In the event that you decide not to have further treatments, there are no ill effects and your skin will simply return to the state it was before treatment. In fact, we have seen in studies that even if you try the dermal filler treatment only once, it is still a better option than not trying it at all. The residual effects that occur due to the increased hydration and the production of collagen are beneficial to the skin, often leaving the lines and wrinkles softer looking than before your treatment.
WHAT WILL I LOOK LIKE IMMEDIATELY AFTER MY TREATMENT?
You will notice some side effects that will only last for about a few days. We will discuss these potential side effects in detail with you and advise how you can prevent them from occurring. The most likely side effects (if any) post a dermal filler treatment session includes the following:
When swelling is experienced with this treatment, it usually subsides within 24 to 48 hours. Our experts will advise you on how to prevent swelling once your treatment is complete.
Bruising is a potential risk when the skin is exposed to any procedure that involves penetration. Most of the time the bruises are very small and can be easily covered with mineral makeup. There are certain medicines that increase the bruising occurrence and you will be notified about these prior to your treatment.
It is quite normal to feel a mild tenderness at the treatment site after having the dermal filler treatment. It is also easily manageable by simply taking a mild pain relief medication such as paracetamol. Other measures include applying ice to the treated area to reduce bruising or swelling, avoiding sauna, spas, strenuous exercise, and certain medicines. The post treatment care information will be explained in detail after your treatment is completed.
WHEN CAN I HAVE A DERMAL FILLER TREATMENT?
After your consultation, you’ll be offered a customised treatment plan. You might like to consider the options and then re-book an appointment for another visit, or you can begin the treatment on the same day (if time permits).
WHEN SHOULD I COME BACK TO THE STUDIO?
Once your dermal filler treatment is complete, we will give you instructions regarding your aftercare. If you have any questions or concerns we encourage you to call the clinic and speak with one of our clinicians. You can also book a review or follow up appointment two weeks after your treatment at no further cost.
WILL TREATMENT WITH DERMAL FILLERS HURT?
This is the most commonly asked question because dermal fillers are given by injection, and some of us have a natural fear of needles or have had an unpleasant experience in the past. We understand this at The Cosmetic Studio Noosa, so it’s our priority to ensure that our clients feel at ease and are comfortable while undergoing their treatments. We offer many types of pain relief, from topical ice packs to a powerful numbing cream preparation, as well as proven distracting techniques! Best of all, the dermal fillers now come loaded with local anaesthetic which makes this a very comfortable treatment. We also ensure all clients get icy poles to take home as part of their after care. All of these options are available to help reduce discomfort.
WILL I STILL LOOK LIKE ME? (I DON’T WANT TO LOOK PLASTIC OR WEIRD!)
You certainly will still look like you, only a fresher and more youthful version. In most cases we are not adding anything that you didn’t already have. We aim to restore, replenish, enhance and rejuvenate your skin. We work by the adage ‘Less is More’.
HOW MUCH WILL A DERMAL FILLER TREATMENT COST?
The total cost of the Dermal Filler treatment will depend on the area that is being treated and the amount of filler or number of syringes needed to give an optimal correction. Fillers come in varying thicknesses and sizes, we stock eight different types of fillers and generally larger thicker fillers cost more than medium or thinner, finer fillers. Filler prices range from $360 up $690. Often people will present with more than one area needing filing, which in turn means they may need more than one syringe of dermal filler. To help make your treatment more cost effective we will offer a specially formulated package price, for two or more fillers, tailored to suit your needs during your consultation. Please refer to our PRICES page for our Dermal Filler pricing.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
How long a filler lasts is very individual. Longevity can depend on factors such as age, skin type and your skin’s condition. Lifestyle factors that markedly reduce your skin’s ability to hold fillers longer are smoking, excessive drug or alcohol consumption and sun damage. Generally speaking, larger thicker fillers will usually last longer (10-18 months) than medium to finer fillers (6-12 months). Fillers also have the ability to thicken and strengthen your collagen support structures and can draw water to themselves, making them last longer in your tissues.
Results and longevity of treatments vary on an individual basis and can be dependant on a person’s age, genetics, skin type, skin condition, environmental factors and lifestyle habits. Just like ageing is a natural process that occurs over time, preventing, achieving and maintaining results is also a gradual process that may involve more than one treatment.
