Volumising Treatments

Restore Volume and Rejuvenate the Skin

Dermal Filler Treatment

Volume-enhancing treatments are prescription medicines that lift and augment facial lines, folds, hollows, and lips. Using skill and science, we can recreate and restore natural facial curves and contours, rebalancing and replacing lost volume in a person’s features. Facial and lip balancing is an art where often less is more to create harmony between the features for pleasing aesthetic outcomes.

We offer a broad range of dermal fillers to suit many areas, issues, and needs. We also offer complimentary, obligation-free consultations with our experienced registered nurses to discuss your expectations, provide options, and tailor a personalised treatment plan and quotation to suit your aesthetic goals, lifestyle, and budget. We aim to deliver balanced, aesthetically pleasing, natural-looking results by fusing science, art, and expertise with professionalism and care.

Frequently Asked Questions

When choosing a clinician and going ahead with any cosmetic treatment, you need to be informed about the risks and consider two essential aspects: the product’s safety and the expertise and skill of the person performing the treatment. It pays to do your research!

Every medical procedure has possible side effects. These will be discussed with you before treatment. Dermal fillers work by injecting an HA substance into your skin. As fillers are a thick gel-like substance, they can sometimes cause mild tissue trauma while injected into the skin, such as swelling, bruising, lumpiness and slight discomfort. These side effects always subside within a few days with simple post-treatment management. However, more severe side effects like infection, allergy, granuloma, and necrosis have been reported (less than 1:15000), and in sporadic cases, visual impairments or blindness have been reported.

At The Cosmetic Studio Noosa, our staff are regularly trained in emergency responses and managing all adverse events according to the ‘Guidelines on Emergency Responses to Dermal Filler Adverse Events’. We abide by safe injecting practices and adhere to strict protocols for medical management to resolve these conditions in the rare event of them occurring. At your first consultation and every 12 months, you will have a FaceTime consultation with one of our supervising medical prescribers, who will assess your medical history, current medications, and any allergies or illnesses that may affect your suitability for treatment with dermal fillers.

Our Studio Director and Cosmetic Nurse Injector, Vicki Hull, has been Queensland’s Clinical Trainer for Galderma, the dermal filler supplier. She has trained hundreds of doctors and nurses in the use of dermal fillers both nationally and internationally. Vicki has also trained all Cosmetic Nurses at The Cosmetic Studio Noosa to an expert level and hosts regular in-clinic Adverse Events and clinical training for the whole team. We also keep up to date with the latest Emergency protocols by attending industry conferences and being members of AMET (Aesthetic Medical Support Service).

In addition, we use only genuine brand, TGA-approved dermal fillers with an outstanding safety profile. Unfortunately, due to legal requirements, we cannot reveal the brand name of the products on our website. So, with much comfort and confidence, we say you are in safe hands and expert hands, too!

Depending on the area being treated and the dermal filler used, most treatments can be performed over a ½ to 1-hour appointment. Sometimes, we ask you to come in earlier to apply a topical anaesthetic cream.

Over time, Dermal Filler naturally gets metabolised or broken down by the body. We recommend that you have follow-up sessions before the dermal fillers are entirely depleted. This helps maintain the correction structure and gives longer-lasting results. If you decide not to have further treatments, your skin has no ill effects, such as over-stretching the area; it will simply return to the state it was before treatment. We have seen in studies and ourselves that even if you have the Dermal Filler treatment only once, new collagen stimulation can improve the skin’s tone and texture. This often leaves the treated area looking softer or more toned than before your treatment.

You will notice some side effects that only last a few days. We will discuss these potential side effects in detail with you and advise how you can prevent them from occurring. The most likely side effects (if any) post a dermal filler treatment session includes the following:

Swelling:

When swelling occurs with this treatment, it usually subsides within 24 to 48 hours. Once your treatment is complete, our experts will advise you on how to prevent swelling.

Bruising:

Bruising is a potential risk when the skin is exposed to any procedure that involves penetration. Most of the time, the bruises are tiny and can be easily covered with mineral makeup. Certain medicines increase bruising, and you will be notified about them before your treatment.

Tenderness:

It is expected to feel a mild tenderness at the treatment site after the dermal filler treatment. It is also easily manageable by simply taking a mild pain relief medication such as paracetamol. Other measures include applying ice to the treated area to reduce bruising or swelling and avoiding saunas, spas, strenuous exercise, and certain medicines. The post-treatment care information will be explained in detail after completing your treatment.

After your consultation, you’ll be offered a customised treatment plan. You might like to consider the options and then re-book an appointment for another visit, or you can begin the treatment on the same day (if time permits).

Once your dermal filler treatment is complete, we will give you instructions regarding your aftercare. If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to call the clinic and speak with one of our clinicians. You can also book a review or follow-up appointment two weeks after your treatment at no further cost.

This is the most asked question because dermal fillers are given by injection, and some of us have a natural fear of needles or have had an unpleasant experience in the past. We understand this at The Cosmetic Studio Noosa, so it’s our priority to ensure that our clients feel at ease and comfortable while undergoing their treatments. We offer many types of pain relief, from topical ice packs to powerful numbing cream preparation and proven distracting techniques! Best of all, the dermal fillers now come loaded with local anaesthetic, making this a very comfortable treatment. We also ensure all clients get icy poles to take home as part of their aftercare. All these options are available to help reduce discomfort.

You will certainly still look like you, only a fresher and more youthful version. In most cases, we are not adding anything that you didn’t already have. We aim to restore, replenish, enhance, and rejuvenate your skin. We work by the adage ‘Less is More’.

As the ingredients are prescribed medicines, we cannot name the product by its known brand name or list unit or syringe pricing, as per TGA advertising codes and our regulating body, AHPRA.

How long a filler lasts can be very individual. Longevity can depend on factors such as age, skin type, your skin’s condition and the severity of laxity. Lifestyle factors that markedly reduce your skin’s ability to hold fillers longer, e.g. stress, smoking, excessive drug or alcohol consumption and sun damage. If we use larger, thicker filler, the longevity can range from 10-18 months. Fillers can also thicken and strengthen your collagen support structures and draw water to themselves, making them last longer in your tissues.
